April is coming and the days are getting longer! Why not use all this glorious daylight to learn a new skill in our bright and airy studio space in our West Hampstead shop! We have classes to suit every level, interest and schedule.

Crochet an Amigurumi Cactus with Zoe Bateman
Wednesday 18 April, 6:30pm – 9:30pm (£45)
Amigurumi is the Japanese art of crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures. In this fun class you’ll learn the amigurumi method of crochet while making a crochet cactus! Everything is included in your class fee. Find out more and sign up here.
Finish that Quilt with Jenny Haynes
Friday 20 April, 6:30pm – 9:30pm (£45)
Have a quilt that is stuck in WIP purgatory? This class is for you! Bring in your project to get help, encouragement and inspiration from our experienced teacher and finish that quilt! Jenny can help you with everything from how to baste your quilt, different ways to quilt your quilt (either machine stitching using your walking foot or hand sewing with luscious Perle Cotton) and how to bind your quilt (get the perfect mitred corner, how to do the invisible hand finish). Beginners Shibori: Stitching and Binding with Rob Jones
Tuesday, 3 April, 6:30pm – 9pm (£50)
In this class you will learn basic shibori stitching and binding techniques before dyeing your work in the indigo vat. Over the 2.5 hour workshop you’ll master the following stitching and binding skills and learn all about indigo, including: the basic kamosage knot used to secure all bound work; how to make the kumo (spiderweb), bai (seashell), and tesugi (stripes) patterns using binding; the three basic stitches – running stitch, ori nui (teeth) and maki nui (twist stitch); how to create filled shapes (maki-age) using stitching and binding; and how to dye your fabrics in a genuine indigo vat! New York Beauty Quilt Workshop with Jenny Haynes
Sunday 22 April, 10am – 5pm (£95)
The classic New York Beauty block made modern by mixing circles and ovals! In this class you’ll be using Jenny’s Drunkard’s Path templates and foundation paper piecing (FPP) pattern. You’ll learn how to cut, sew and press perfect curves using Jenny’s no-pin technique and how to use the FPP technique to sew precise shapes. Introduction to Free Motion Quilting with Trudi Wood
Saturday, 21 April, 10am – 4pm (£85)
Join experienced Free Motion Quilter Trudi Wood in a hands on class to learn (or build on your) free motion quilting skills. Focussing on technique, this class will show you how to set yourself up for success by sharing tips and simple designs which will enable you to finish a project without unpicking or throwing it out of the window! English Paper Piecing: Hand Pieced Curves with Jenny Haynes
Saturday 21 April, 10:15am – 1:15pm (£45)
Learn how to hand-piece beautifully using an English Paper Piecing technique. In this class our teacher Jenny Haynes will teach you the basics of English Paper Piecing and how to sew pieced shapes, both straight and curved, by hand whilst creating a beautiful little pin cushion or pouch to show off your new skills! Brush Lettering Workshop with Emma Block
Monday 9 April, 7pm – 9:30pm (£60)
Taught by illustrator Emma Block, this contemporary brush lettering workshop will focus on developing skills and learning techniques allowing you to grow in confidence and start to develop your own brush lettering style. We’ll start with exercises to practice making shapes, creating lines of different thicknesses and using different brushstrokes. You’ll then practice writing the alphabet, words and phrases with plenty of help and guidance on hand. You will be given a complete set of materials which you can take away after class, including guide sheets, a brush and a pot of indian ink. Plus you’ll learn how to photograph your brush lettering using just your phone to create a unique piece of digital artwork! Find out more and sign up here.
Granny Squares Next Steps with Annie Windley
Tuesday 17 April, 7pm – 9pm (£38)
If you know how to crochet a basic granny square, this intermediate class is perfect to take your crochet to the next level. In the first part of the two-hour lession, you will learn a number of different variations on the basic square: such as starting with a circular motif, adding clusters for texture, and incorporating 3-dimensional effects like petals to give your project design some added interest and texture. You’ll also learn the principles behind creating a granny square variation so that you’ll be able to design a granny square of your very own. Find out more and sign up here.

Modern Macrame Wall Hanging with Zoe Bateman
Tuesday, 24 April, 7pm – 9:30pm (£45)
Macrame is a form of textile-making that uses knots rather than weaving or knitting. In this class you’ll learn macrame basics, including how to get started, the three most common macrame knots that are the basis for most macrame designs, how to use knots to create a pattern and how to customise or design your own pattern for future projects. Colourwork Magic with Renée Callahan
Wednesday, 11 April, 6:30pm – 9:30pm (£48)
In this class you’ll learn techniques for knitting stranded colourwork that you can apply to any stranded colourwork pattern! Freehand Machine Embroidery with Sophia Palmer

Do you want to learn a completely new and unique way of using your sewing machine? This workshop will give you a new expressive way to decorate and create. Mixing free motion thread sketching with fabric appliqué to create totally individual pieces of art! Make a Lampshade with Suzie Kemner
Tuesday 17 April, 7pm – 9pm (£45)
In this fun two hour workshop, Suzie Kemner will lead you through the process of turning a fabric of your choice into a beautiful drum lampshade. You’ll learn how to line up the fabric, attach it to specialist lampshade vinyl (glow tested and certified) and then craft it into a 30cm lampshade that can be hung from a ceiling rose or mounted on a standard lamp. Modern calligraphy is perfect for all; its relaxed approach enhances your natural hand writing style to create a unique and beautiful lettering form that is totally individual. Embroidery for Beginners with Carina Envoldsen-Harris

This class is a fun and colourful introduction to hand embroidery that is designed for beginners or those who want a refresher. You will start by learning the tools of the craft, how to use a hoop and how to transfer a pattern. Next, we’ll explore a selection of stitches – running stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, French knots and more – by creating a modern sampler designed by Carina. Guided Studio Time with Charlotte Newland

Work on the sewing or quilting project of your choice with the expert guidance of 2016 Great British Sewing Bee winner Charlotte Newland! This is a Sewing Machine with Lisa Falconer
Tuesday 17 April, 10am – 1pm (£45)
This class will introduce aspiring stitchers – or those who need a refresher – how to use a sewing machine! In this comprehensive three hour class, you’ll get sewing machine-savvy and leave with enough knowledge and confidence to start making your own projects at home! This workshop is focussed solely on the skill of sewing and the entire three hours will be spent practising each element below to ensure that the methods stay in your mind after the class. Sew a Quilted Cushion with Judith Dahmen
Saturday 28 April, 10am – 4pm (£85)
In this class you’ll learn many of the steps to making a patchwork quilt by sewing a quilted cushion! Participants will learn how to use a rotary cutter, how to machine piece patchwork pieces together using a ¼ inch foot on a sewing machine, how to machine quilt the front of the cushion, how to sew a zip.
