Fitting for Beginners with Charlotte Newland

Two days: Saturday, 10 September, and Sunday, 11 September, 10am – 5pm (£195)

Learn to sew beautiful, well-fitting garments with Great British Sewing Bee winner Charlotte Newland! Have your previous attempts at dressmaking been disappointing? Patterns are designed to fit an imaginary woman, but we are real people with different body types and shapes. Taught over two full days, in this class you will learn to make clothes that fit and flatter your body by taking accurate measurements and altering the pattern before even cutting the fabric. You will make a test garment (muslin) to check and adjust fit, before finally sewing a gorgeous dress in the fabric of your choice using the Sylvie pattern. This class will cover taking accurate measurements, basic pattern adjustments (blending between sizes, bust adjustments, lengthening/shortening), evaluating fit and garment construction.
