Cherry blossom skirt
When I saw this fabric, all I knew was that I wanted to have it in my life. I wanted to make  dress, but then I found out the price and thought I could settle for enough to make a skirt!
I used the Bee Skirt pattern Deborah at Whipstitch created for Ruby Star Spring. I really love the Bee Skirt and want to make one too but for the moment it turned out to be a great simple skirt pattern to use this fabric. I will definitely use it again.
Here’s me trying to do my Jess Cartner-Morley pose.
I underlined the fabric with a cotton voile. I was after something like the cotton-silk blend I’ve used to for underlining in the past but I was desperate and this was the closest I could find at John Lewis. It’s not like Free Spirit voile – it wasn’t as soft – but it worked fine.
I would have made this longer, but all I had was a metre. It’s fine with tights, but it feels very short with bare legs.
In case you were wondering – these photos aren’t out of focus. The fabric is just blurry!
