Coreopsis raspberry dress
After I made the coreopsis lime Sorbetto, I fell for the coreopsis raspberry voile in the Anna Maria Horner Loulouthi collection. I thought I’d make myself another Sorbetto for me with it, but then changed my mind and decided to make a dress. I copied a Loft dress I bought about a year ago and then made adjustments once I tried it on.
The skirt is just two rectangles but the top has gathering in the back and at the shoulders that I had to guess at when I created the pattern pieces. It’s all connected by black elastic at the waist. Can you say comfy? So comfy! I thought it would be perfect for Quilt Market because it packs up very small and the wrinkles more or less steam out after hanging it in the shower. You can see me in it at Quilt Market here!
Here’s a closeup of the back.
And the front.
I do love this but if I did it again I’d probably underline it. It’s a teensy bit see-through and it sticks to my legs a little when I wear it with tights. The dress I copied wasn’t lined but it’s made of polyester and behaves differently. I do love it though. The colour is really fun and did I mention how comfy it is? I don’t think I can be bothered to go back and add a lining, especially since it will be nice the way it is with bare legs in summer, so it is what it is!
We took these pictures by the swings so here’s the obligatory swings snap. In case you were wondering, yes, it was cold. It’s November in London! But I suppose one must suffer for one’s craft…
