Cotton + Steel Fall 2014 Collection pre-sale SALE starts today!
Cotton + Steel‘s Fall 2014 collection is expected around the 15th of January! We’re so excited and we’re pretty sure you are too. So we’re starting our pre-sale now and offering 5% off on all Cotton + Steel pre-orders placed by Monday, 5 January! No code necessary for this deal! Remember that the new Cotton + Steel collections will coordinate with all of the Spring 2014 collections, so you can keep mixing and matching.
When you place your order, your payment will be processed and your fabric will ship as soon as it arrives in the shop. Pre-sale orders will be cut first and we’ll aim to get them out as quickly as possible on a first come, first served basis! Please DO NOT purchase other items with your pre-sale order. It’s really, really difficult for us to try to hold items, so we’d appreciate it so much if you’d keep things separate (but you can order from any of the upcoming Cotton + Steel collections in one go – they’ll all arrive at the same time).
Now then, let’s have a little refresher on these gorgeous collections. I took all of these photos at Fall Quilt Market in Houston in October, when the new collections were unveiled! I won’t say they are the best ever photos – sometimes at Market I go into a panic trying to get stuff on Instagram super fast for you. That was totally the case here!
Playful by Melody Miller – Playful is is inspired by Melody’s love for vintage games and toys. This collection includes her popular viewfinder reels design, now on quilting cotton for the first time, as well as memory cards and wooden blocks, jacks, a word find, bingo cards, and prints inspired by bowling alleys and backgammon boards. Playful includes 16 designs on quilting cotton, two on cotton lawn and two on cotton/linen blend canvas.
Mochi by Rashida Coleman-Hale – In Mochi, Rashida takes a leap back to her favourite source of inspiration: Japan. She draws from Japanese folk tales and traditions to tell the story of the jack rabbit in the moon making mochi, or pounded rice cakes. She also touches on the tradition of Otsukimi, the harvest moon festival that is celebrated by making mochi and collecting flowering grasses. This collection includes 15 designs on quilting cotton, four on cotton lawn and three on cotton/linen blend canvas.
Mesa by Alexia Abegg – Mesa is inspired by the many holidays Alexia’s family took to the American southwest when she was a child. Her designs in this collection mix motifs from woven blankets, old souvenirs, open markets and imaginary spirit animals with watercolour paintings from detailed travel journals she made during those holidays. This collection includes 17 designs on quilting cotton, two on cotton lawn and three on cotton/linen blend canvas.
Cookie Book by Kim Kight – The quirky and retro Cookie Book was inspired by vintage baking ephemera. Recipe boxes, cookie jars and Junior League Cookbooks. The name is a nod to the 1963 classic, Betty Crocker’s Cookie Book, which inspired a generation of bakers. This collection features a mix of Kim’s original designs and repro prints. This collection includes 15 designs on quilting cotton and four on cotton lawn.

Tokyo Train Ride by Sarah Watts – Tokyo Train Ride is inspired by Sarah’s reflections and sketches from her recent trip to Japan. Her designs are also inspired by her grandmother’s heirlooms and stories from the eight years she lived in Japan during the 1960’s. This collection includes 13 designs on quilting cotton, five on cotton lawn and two on cotton/linen blend canvas.

Bespoke – Bespoke is a double gauze collection and the Cotton + Steel founding designers’ first collaborative collection. Double gauze is a woven fabric constructed of two gauzy cotton layers that are held together with one tiny thread every centimetre. These stitches form a subtle grid over the entire fabric. Double gauze is intriguing because it has a loose weave making it a light and breezy fabric but because there are two layers woven together, the fabric has a nice weight and feels substantial. This collection includes two, each in five colourways, and four solids.
Sparkle Canvas – A special addition to the Fall 2014 collection, Sparkle Canvas is is a cotton/linen blend metallic canvas that is perfect for bags, jackets and more!
P.S. We’ve re-ordered all of the Cotton + Steel Basics and they will be here in February.
P.P.S. Some of you might have seen that Cotton + Steel have a rayon collection coming and some other super exciting stuff too. Rest assured we have every last piece of Cotton + Steel on order, and I’ll update you as soon as I have shipping dates and photos I can share.
