Rag Rugging for Beginners – Christmas Edition with Elspeth Jackson
Sunday 3 December, 10am – 4pm (£75)

Join us for a special Christmas edition of our super popular rag rugging workshop with Elspeth Jackson where you’ll get to make a wintry wreath or Christmas stocking!

Learn to turn old rags into upcycled homeware with the beautiful craft of rag rugging! Our beginners’ workshop is designed to give you all the skills you need to be able to start any rag rug project for yourself at home. With plenty of help from our expert instructor throughout the day, you will learn how to use rag rug equipment, how to work with hessian, how to choose and prepare materials, how to design for rag rug, how to do the two different types of rag rugging (loopy and shaggy) and how to finish your work. During the session you will get the opportunity to begin your project. All the rag rug materials are provided on the day and you’ll get a latch hook to take home with you! Improv Curves with Jenny Haynes
Friday 1 December, 6:30pm – 9:30pm (£45)

No rules, no rulers. In this liberating class we learn how to cut, sew and press improvised curves. We also cover other techniques, like the inset circle, that are excellent skill-builders and perfect for your improv or planned quilt. This is a perfect class for experienced quilters who want to learn a new technique, but it’s also suitable for beginners. Embroidery for Beginners with Carina Envoldsen-Harris – Christmas Edition!
Saturday 9 December, 10:30am – 1:30pm or Tuesday 12 December, 11am – 2pm (£40)

We’re giving our Embroidery for Beginners workshop a Christmas spin for December! This class is a fun and colourful introduction to hand embroidery that is designed for beginners or those who want a refresher. You will start by learning the tools of the craft, how to use a hoop and how to transfer a pattern. Next, we’ll explore a selection of stitches – running stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, French knots and more – by creating a festive modern sampler designed by Carina. You’ll leave with everything you need to know to complete your sampler at home and the confidence to try your next embroidery pattern independently! Find out more and sign up here.

Screen Printing with Karen Lewis
Sunday 10 December, 10am – 4pm (£75)

Join us for a special printmaking class with visiting tutor, textile designer Karen Lewis! In this full-day introduction to screen printing, Karen will teach you everything you need to know to be able to print your own fabric at home using the embroidery hoop method. Crochet a Toft Animal with Annie Windley
Monday 6 December, 7pm – 9pm (£50)

In this fun class you’ll learn the amigurumi method of crochet working on the Toft animal or monster kit of your choice! You’ll learn how to start and finish each body part and how to sew them all together along with how to read a crochet pattern. We’ll also review your pattern with you to help you understand any special stitches or techniques you’ll need to know to complete your chosen design. English Paper Piecing with Jenny Haynes
Sunday 3 December, 10:30am – 1:30pm (£45)

Learn how to hand-piece beautifully using an English Paper Piecing technique. In this class our teacher Jenny Haynes will teach you the basics of English Paper Piecing and how to sew pieced shapes, both straight and curved, by hand whilst creating a beautiful little pin cushion or pouch to show off your new skills! Sew a Christmas Dress with Charlotte Newland
Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 December 10am – 5pm (£195)

Treat yourself to a new Christmas dress – that you’ve made yourself! Taught over two full days using the popular Emery Dress pattern, you’ll learn to make a beautiful, well-fitting dress in the fabric of your choice. First, our teacher, Charlotte Newland, will coach you through the process of taking accurate measurements, making pattern adjustments and creating a muslin to ensure your dress will fit and flatter your body. Knit a Big Loop Chunky Blanket with Kym Armstrong
Monday 4 December, 6:30pm – 9:30pm (£195)

Super chunky Big Loop merino wool by Loopy Mango knits up into the most gorgeous blankets! In this class, you’ll learn knitting basics, including how to cast on on circular needles, knit stitch and cast off while you create your own Montauk throw measuring 30″ x 50″. This throw is a fabulous decoration for your home and makes the most amazing gift. All materials are provided, including one giant skein of Big Loop yarn and 35mm circular needles to take home. Machine-pieced Curves: Double Drunkard’s Path with Jenny Haynes
Saturday 2 December, 10am – 5pm (£95)

Curves big and small but no pins in sight. In this class you’ll be using Jenny’s DDP (Double Drunkard’s Path) templates that she designed to make the Five Impossible Things, Paper Run and DDP Clamshell quilts. You’ll learn how to cut, sew and press perfect curves using Jenny’s no-pin technique. Make one of Jenny’s Quilt or design your own with the help if your tutor. Class includes the templates worth £35. Knit a Chunky Lace Shawl with Renée Callahan
Monday 11 December 6:30pm – 9:30pm (£45)

In this fun class we’ll take the fear out of knitting lace patterns! Led by our expert teacher, you’ll learn how to work basic lace stitches and how to read a lace chart, plus the Garter Tab cast on and a stretch cast off. The pattern is included with the class. Find out more and sign up here.

Cross Stitch for Beginners with Kym Armstrong
Tuesday 5 December, 10:30pm – 1pm or Wednesday, 8 November, 7pm – 9:30pm (£35)

Cross stitch is portable, relaxing and seriously addictive! This one-evening class will cover the cross stitch basics from tools to techniques while you stitch a modern cross stitch design to take home! You’ll learn how to work with embroidery floss and the various types of cross stitch fabric, how to get started by anchoring your thread and reading a stitch chart, how to follow a pattern including basic stitches, working rows and changing colours and how to finish your work to display it at home. All materials are provided. Thursday 14 December, 6.30pm – 9pm (£40)

Want help with a dressmaking or quilting project or just want to sew in a social setting and pick up a few tips along the way? Our Guided Studio Time sessions were created for you to work on the project of your choice with the help of our talented instructor. Learn to Crochet Granny Squares
Tuesday 12 December, 7pm – 9pm (£35)

Learn to crochet the classic granny square! In this two hour class, you’ll learn to create a granny square that can be used as a drinks coaster or as the start of a blanket, accessory or anything else you can dream up! We’ll cover basic crochet stitches, how to finish a square and how to connect squares to create larger projects plus how to follow a crochet pattern or chart. Learn to Crochet Granny Squares

This is a Sewing Machine with Lisa Falconer
Tuesday 19 December, 10am – 1pm (£45)

This class will introduce aspiring stitchers – or those who need a refresher – how to use a sewing machine! In this comprehensive three hour class, you’ll get sewing machine-savvy and leave with enough knowledge and confidence to start making your own projects at home! This workshop is focussed solely on the skill of sewing and the entire three hours will be spent practising each element below to ensure that the methods stay in your mind after the class.
