Dressmaking Voile now in stock

Editor's note: This post is from 2013 and unfortunately we lost the images. You can shop our current, gorgeous selection of cotton lawn & voile here.

I love quilting, but at the moment all I want to make is stuff to wear. And some of our most popular fabrics lately are our knits, double gauzes and voiles, so it seems like you guys might be making lots of stuff to wear too, am I right? So I’m seeking out new sources of dressmaking fabrics (while still keeping my feet firmly in the land of cotton…for now).

To that end, I give you our new Dressmaking Voile! I discovered a lovely family-run Welsh company that imports beautiful fabrics when I was in Germany last month and ordered a few to see what you think. These voiles are great value at 56″/142cm wide and £10 per metre and are lightweight and lovely, just begging to be made into a spring top or summer dress. Or, if you don’t swing that way, a big summer-weight blanket or whole cloth quilt! Let’s take a closer look…

I named these, so laugh all you want. I was looking at the Kona card for inspiration because making up names for stuff isn’t my calling!

Silhouette Floral in Melon and Periwinkle (I just love this colour combination. This coraly colour is also known as my colour round the shop)

Cotton voile

Vintage Floral in Coral and Khaki (isn’t this fun?)

Cotton voile

Eighties Floral in Pink and Indigo (this makes me think nostalgically of the mall)

Cotton voile

Garden Party Floral in Cerise and Sunflower (perfect for a Flora, as suggested by Roisin)

Cotton voile

Enormous Blue Tulips (sometimes you gotta call it like you see it)

Cotton voile

Triangles in Navy (This one seems to be the most popular on Instagram. But it’s not black, I’m afraid to say, it’s dark navy!)

Cotton voile

What will you make? Oh please, please send us pictures of your pretty dresses!
