Five craft projects to try with your kids over half term!
Ready for a long weekend, or, if you have kids, a looooong half term week? Use the extra time to try a new project! Here are five ideas.
Latch hook! Yes, we are obsessed. But this super easy craft is great for all ages and no experience is required. You’ll need rug canvas, a latch hook and lots of yarn (but it can be cheap and cheerful – no yarn snobbery with this craft!) Check out our favourite latch hook ideas for inspo! Plus we are hosting a free latch hook workshop in our West Hampstead shop tomorrow – just drop in any time to play with our supplies and make a mini latch hook rug to keep!
Decoupage! Start with our super fun and very on trend paper mâché shapes or wall charms and decorate them with decoupage paper and mod podge, paint, glitter and more! These are a very fun way to help kids personalise their rooms. Check our our decoupage tray tutorial for more inspo.
Shrinky dinks! The Yellow Owl Workshop DIY Pin & Flair Kit gives this super accessible craft a hip upgrade. Colour, bake and make lapel pins and colourful accessories like hair clips and key fobs! The kit includes 18 shrink plastic designs, 6 coloured pencils and 18 lapel pin backs.
Soap making! Adults will have to be a bit more hands-on with soap making, but it’s still a great way to let kids get creative! Let them create their own soap using scents and colours and designs they choose, and they’ll love to use it at bath time. Plus with our special soap gift wrap supplies they’ll be able to wrap them up for gifts! Check out our roundup of our favourite soap tutorials for inspiration.
Paper crafts! Our paper pads are so versatile and fun. Use them to try out the projects (like the little boxes above) from our post One Paper Pad, Eight Easy Papercraft Projects to Try. Plus we also have washi tape, stencils, punches and more to play with. There are so many paper craft ideas to take you through half term!
