Join The Big Knitathon at The Village Haberdashery on 16 November
Calling all knitters! Join us at the shop on 16 November at 2pm and take part in a fundraising, world record attempt to create the largest hand-knitted blanket. We’re participating in The Big Knitathon by hosting a free, drop in knitting workshop!
The Big Knitathon is a campaign to raise awareness of The Big Issue Foundation’s work with the homeless and raise vital funds for the charity. Last year, the first year of the campaign, nearly 1,400 participants in 66 groups around the UK and beyond picked up their needles to support The Big Knitathon.
Events like ours are also part of a nationwide attempt to break a world record for the largest hand-knitted blanket. The organisation is asking people to be sponsored to knit as many 6-inch squares as possible, or to raise funds in other ways with their knitting groups. The squares will be sewn together in an attempt to make the world’s largest hand-knitted blanket.
Drop in any time between 2pm – 5pm on Saturday, 16 November and knit a 6-inch square for the charity. Don’t know how? Don’t worry! We’ll teach you. And if you contribute a square we’ll give you 20% off your purchase in the shop!
