Learn something new! Open classes in West Hampstead the week of 17 February 2014

We have so many great craft classes going on in our West Hampstead shop. It’s so exciting! Everyone is having lots of fun and making gorgeous things. I thought I’d starting doing a weekly update of upcoming sewing classes, knitting classes and craft classes happening during the week so if you are the last minute type you can still get in on some great stuff!

So, this week…

On Tuesday, we’ll kick off the first class in our new six-class Churn Dash Quilt class with Judith Dahmen.

Churn Dash Quilt class

The Churn Dash is one of the most popular traditional quilt patterns and looks amazing made up in modern or classic fabrics. In this six-part class you’ll make an entire Churn Dash quilt in any size you wish, from choosing fabrics, to piecing to quilting and binding. This class is perfect for students who have already made at least one quilt and want to improve their skills, or students who are accomplished at dressmaking (or other sewing) and want to try quilting. Students will receive a special guide booklet to making the Churn Dash to keep for future projects!

On Saturday, Rachel Pinheiro will be teaching the Deer & Doe Airelle Blouse.

Deer & Doe Airelle Blouse class

The Airelle Blouse by Deer & Doe is a pretty and feminine 3/4-length sleeve blouse with waist darts that ensure a flattering style for most body shapes. ln this class Rachel Pinheiro, prolific dressmaker and popular blogger, will teach you the ins and outs of blouse construction in a fun one-day class. You will learn step by step construction techniques, including how to sew a set-in sleeve, a Chelsea collar and a gathered yoke and how to add piping.

On Sunday, join us for our new Handmade Kitchen Essentials class with Marilyn Lewin.

Handmade Kitchen Essentials class

Sew up your favourite fabrics into useful kitchen accessories and you’ll be able to use and admire them every day! In this fun new class you’ll learn to sew a vintage-style apron and a pair of matching oven mitts. Make them for yourself or as a gift for mum on Mother’s Day!
