With the move to our new shop we’ve expanded our selection of dressmaking fabrics and if you like to sew with jersey, we’ve got you covered! Our new rainbow shelf of drapey cotton and viscose/spandex blend jersey is super eye catching, plus we have lots of fun new patterned jersey, sweater knits, ponte roma, sweatshirt knits, ribbed knits and more. You can shop all of our knit fabrics here.
We have a handful of gorgeous new Liberty Tana Lawn fabrics in stock! These timeless prints on silky 100% cotton lawn make the loveliest blouses, dresses and skirts. We can’t wait to see what you make! Find them in the shop here.
Our new selection of 100% Antique Linens from Lady McElroy is just stunning! In rich colours and with a beautiful drape, these fabrics are just perfect for your next Fancy Tiger Crafts Fen Dress, Megan Nielsen Brumby Skirt or basically any pattern by Merchant & Mills! They will also work perfectly for cushions, light upholstery, curtains and other home decor projects. You can find them in the shop here.
We’ve restocked our beautiful range of Cascade 220 and Cascade 128 Superwash yarns and added new colours! Cascade 128 Superwash, pictured below, is a soft, plied, machine washable chunky yarn. A wonderfully all-purpose wool, 128 Superwash knits up at 3 1/2 stitches to the inch so it is just right for quick blankets, cosy jumpers, baby gifts and more. Cascade 220, pictured, is a great basic aran-weight yarn. Well-loved for its practicality, durability and traditional woolen beauty, this plied yarn is made from Peruvian Highland wool and is a wonderful choice for almost any project. Great for felting too! Find all of our Cascade yarns here.
We have the two newest patterns from Tilly and the Buttons in stock and we are in love! The Zadie Dress, designed for medium-weight knit fabrics like our interlock solids and stripes, has striking diagonal seams, concealing lovely (and practical!) in-seam pockets. The fitted bodice has a flattering empire waistline that flares out into a feminine, knee-length semi-pleated skirt. Great for beginners and bang on-trend, the Cleo Pinafore and Dungaree Dress is simple to sew, with no fiddly zips and minimal fitting required! Cleo looks great in our range of cotton denim fabrics. Find all of the Tilly and the Buttons patterns here.
This month, Jenny Haynes of Papper, Sax, Sten will be teaching three classes, each designed to help you up your patchwork game whilst creating beautiful quilts. Her weekend in the shop kicks off on Friday, 24 February, with Introduction to Foundation Paper Piecing, an evening workshop that will teach you how to create precise shapes by sewing your fabric onto a printed paper template which is removed when your block is completed. On Saturday, learn how to cut, shape and machine-sew curves with bias tape while making a start on Jenny’s Slalom Quilt (pictured). On Sunday, we’ll learn to machine-piece beautiful curves by making a Clamshell Quilt! You can browse all of Jenny’s upcoming classes here and contact us if you’d like to book two or more of her classes at 10% off.
