Each kit includes TOFT’s luxury super soft DK weight 100% British wool yarn, a 3mm crochet hook, toy filling, a wool needle and a postcard pattern – everything you need to crochet the animal of your choice. The animals are addictive and people are easily ‘hooked’! These awesome kits attract all ages and make a perfect gift for children and adults alike! Find them in the shop here.
These beautiful double gauze chambrays are wide width and super soft for garment sewing! In super wearable marine blue and black (and you can totally use either side as the front), these breezy fabrics work best with a relaxed pattern. Try the Fancy Tiger Crafts Fen Dress or the Merchant & Mills 101 Trouser Set! Not a dressmaker? These fabrics can also be used for quilts and swaddle blankets! Find them in the shop here.
This gorgeous, medium weight cotton sateen offers a perfect colour combo and a slight sheen, and it is just perfect for a summer day dress (maybe a Christine Haynes Emery?) or a skirt (perhaps the Colette Ginger?) or even a cute little pair of trousers (the Sew Over It Ultimate Trousers?) Find it in the shop here.
This anchor-print chambray from Robert Kaufman is so much fun! You’ve probably seen it in the sample on the cover of the Tilly and the Buttons Dominique Skirt, a perfect pairing of fabric and pattern! The super wearable indigo chambray fabric and on trend motif are just right for summer…and all year round! Find it in the shop here.
This is the lightest of light cotton voiles, silky and sheer, in a large check that will look so pretty in patterns that demand drape. Underline it with our cotton/silk voile and try the Sewaholic Saltspring or the new Megan Nielsen Sudley! Find it in the shop here.
We picked up this mad newsprint polyester peachskin fabric with lining in mind, but it would also be a really fun choice for silky garments like the Tilly and the Buttons Marigold jumpsuit and pyjama sets like the Megan Nielsen Reef Camisole and Shorts. Find it in the shop here.
We are now stocking Cashmerette sewing patterns! Cashmerette’s range of elegant sewing patterns are designed with modern, curvy women in mind. The fashion-forward designs offer a size range of 12-28 US and bust sizes C-H (no FBAs necessary!) Created by a plus size seamstress, Jenny Rushmore, Cashmerette Patterns is revolutionsing the pattern industry, proving that gorgeous, well-fitting clothes are meant for every woman. The patterns include the Appleton wrap dress (pictured), the Upton fit and flare dress and the Concord t-shirt. Find them all in the shop here and read more about Cashmerette and Jenny on The Daily Stitch!
Remember at school, when you would origami fold secret notes for your friends? These notepaper sets are inspired by those memories! They are designed to be written on the reverse, then folded and popped into the envelope provided. Each set includes 10 cards and envelopes. A beautiful to gift to give, fun to use and a lovely surprise to receive! Find them in the shop here.
We have two new sets of premium archival gem-sized ink pads from Yellow Owl Workshop! Each contains four individual ink pads with pigment ink for stamping on paper with crisp details and bright hues. The metallic includes silver, gold, black and white. We also have a rad neon set! Find them all in the shop here.

Lisa Falconer of The Avid Seamstress has joined our team of talented teachers and together we’ve launched a monthly class for total beginners called This is a Sewing Machine! In this comprehensive three hour class, you’ll get sewing machine-savvy and leave with enough knowledge and confidence to start making your own projects at home. You’ll learn everything there is to know about owning, operating and maintaining a sewing machine and we’ll practise each element to ensure that the methods stay in your mind after the class.
We use Janome XL601 sewing machines in our class. If you’d like to bring your own machine, please let us know in advance and come to class with your machine’s handbook. Customers who purchase a Janome sewing machine from The Village Haberdashery are invited to take this class once free of charge. To book a place, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The next class is on 6 July and you can find out more or sign up here.
