Our order of Japanese dressmaking fabrics from fall Quilt Market are finally here! This is an eclectic selection of really special fabrics and I think there is something for everyone!
Origami in Red from the Cocca collection is printed on a very light weight silky cotton sateen. It drapes beautifully and is perfect for dresses and blouses.
Nani Iro’s Pocho in Caramel features painterly metallic silver dots on a natural background on soft double gauze. Just lovely for a simple dress, top or scarf.
With subtle colour pops and a bit of shimmer on a soft cotton double gauze, Colorful Pocho in Berry Field by Nani Iro is beautiful for dressmaking, lap duvets and baby clothes.
Painterly stripes and blue-grey ombre make Painting Check D, also by Nani Iro, a modern gingham you’ll adore! It’s a super soft brushed cotton with the softness of flannel but the thickness of medium weight cotton.
Muddy Works have new fabrics out, including the bold, eye-catching Large Orbs in Mustard and Checks and Stripes in Red on a lightweight cotton canvas that is perfect for skirts and dresses as well as bags and zip pouches.
Tiny Star Dot, also from Muddy Works, features tiny little dots and colourful little asterisks on a pale grey background. Printed on lightweight cotton double gauze, this would make a lovely top or dress.
Finally, in the slightly quirky department, we have My Little Spring in Pale Blue. Within the pretty springy field of flowers are little surprises! Seahorses, flower people, keys, teacups – tiny, fun little designs.
