Poppy’s Christmas socks

I made these pretty socks for my grandmother-in-law, Poppy, last Christmas. I wanted to give her something warm, cozy and pretty so I picked this soft sherbert-coloured yarn. I bought it when I was out in San Francisco for work in December after I realised they weren’t going to take my knitting needles away from me on the plane. I highly recommend the shop, ImagiKnit in the Castro. The pattern is from Sweaterscapes, found on Ravelry.

Poppy’s Christmas socks were my first-ever sock effort and I got a late start, so I was working right up until the last minute in the pub on Christmas Eve. Actually, if I’m being honest, I only gave her one sock to open and finished the other one on Christmas Day! I ripped the stitches out more more than once but I am really happy with the result.
