Quilting cotton makes cute dresses

There is a pretty lively debate among dressmakers about using quilting cotton for garments. Gertie’s blog on the subject generated 191 comments! Karen at Did You Make That? even asked me about it when she interviewed me a couple of months ago. I understand why a lot of dressmakers shy away from quilting cotton. I freely admit it’s not right for every garment. But I have evidence a-plenty that quilting cotton does make for some very cute dresses. I’ve even created a pinboard about it! Keep scrolling for some snaps and please do add links to your own photos in the comments!

I got to see Kerry‘s dress in person at the Fat Quarterly Retreat. It looks great! This is made with Cynthia Rowley’s Simplicity 2215, a pattern I have in my stash but haven’t yet sewn.
