Make a Lampshade with Suzie Kemner
Tuesday, 26 September, 7pm – 9pm (£45)
In this fun two hour workshop, Suzie Kemner will lead you through the process of turning a fabric of your choice into a beautiful drum lampshade. You’ll learn how to line up the fabric, attach it to specialist lampshade vinyl (glow tested and certified) and then craft it into a 30cm lampshade that can be hung from a ceiling rose or mounted on a standard lamp. Once you’ve learned the technique, you’ll be able to create lampshades of your own in different sizes. This workshop is perfect if you want to create a beautiful, lovingly made lampshade to brighten up your home, and is a wonderful, relaxing way to pass the evening. Freehand Machine Embroidery with Sophia Palmer

Do you want to learn a completely new and unique way of using your sewing machine? This workshop will give you a new expressive way to decorate and create. Mixing free motion thread sketching with fabric appliqué to create totally individual pieces of art! Introduction to Modern Calligraphy with Suzie Dicker

Modern calligraphy is perfect for all; its relaxed approach enhances your natural hand writing style to create a unique and beautiful lettering form that is totally individual. Led by Suzie Dicker, founder of luxury stationery brand A L’aise, this beginner’s workshop will guide you through making your first stroke to writing beautiful quotes that will be lovely enough to hang on your wall at home! Whether you are a bride-to-be wanting to learn so you can address your wedding invitation envelopes, or you are the creative sort wanting to learn a new skill; this class is the one for you! Cross Stitch for Beginners with Kym Armstrong
Tuesday, 5 September, 10:30am – 1pm, or Wednesday, 27 September, 7pm – 9:30pm (£35)
Cross stitch is portable, relaxing and seriously addictive! This one-evening class will cover the cross stitch basics from tools to techniques while you stitch a modern cross stitch design to take home! You’ll learn how to work with embroidery floss and the various types of cross stitch fabric, how to get started by anchoring your thread and reading a stitch chart, how to follow a pattern including basic stitches, working rows and changing colours and how to finish your work to display it at home. Embroidery for Beginners with Carina Envoldsen-Harris

The class is a fun and colourful introduction to hand embroidery that is designed for beginners or those who want a refresher. You will start by learning the tools of the craft, how to use a hoop and how to transfer a pattern. Next, we’ll explore a selection of stitches – running stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, French knots and more – by creating a sweet modern sampler designed by Carina. You’ll leave with everything you need to know to complete your sampler at home and the confidence to try your next embroidery pattern independently! Fitting Masterclass with Charlotte Newland
Saturday, 2 September, 10am – 5pm (£95)
This intensive one-day class is designed for students who know how to sew, but want to learn how to make a dress that fits beautifully. Working with the dress pattern of your choice, our experienced instructor will teach show you tips and techniques for taking accurate measurements, making a muslin, evaluating fit, basic pattern adjustments (blending between sizes, bust adjustments, lengthening/shortening) and altering your pattern. You’ll leave class with a finished muslin and a corrected pattern so you can make the dress of your dreams at home! Find out more and sign up here.
Free Knitting Class and Drop In Clinic with Renee Callahan – Knitting in the Round

In this special edition of our weekly Thursday Knit Night with our teacher Renee Callahan, we’ll spend an hour learning how to knit in the round followed by a clinic where you’ll be able to get expert help with your knitting challenges! This is a free event but please reserve a place here to help us keep track of numbers.
Guided Studio Time with Charlotte Newland

Want help with a dressmaking or quilting project or just want to sew in a social setting and pick up a few tips along the way? Our Guided Studio Time sessions were created for you to work on the project of your choice with the help of our talented instructor. Introduction to Foundation Paper Piecing with Jenny Haynes
Friday, 15 September, 6pm – 9pm (£45)
This one-evening course is an introduction into the mystery called Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP)! This technique is used to piece precise shapes by sewing your fabric onto a printed paper template which is removed when your block is completed. In this class your teacher Jenny Haynes of Papper, Sax, Sten will talk you through how to make her curved FPP boulders and give you the knowledge and confidence to explore other FPP patterns and maybe even design your very own FPP pattern! Isosceles Triangle Masterclass with Judith Dahmen
Saturday, 9 September, 10am – 4pm (£95)
Designed for intermediate and advanced quilters, this class will take you through the tricky bits of isosceles triangle patchwork. We will cover how to cut triangles with a ruler, deal with bias seams and sew precise and sharp points while working on a baby or lap-size pyramid quilt top. Knit a Chunky Lace Shawl with Renée Callahan

Learn to Crochet Granny Squares

Learn to crochet the classic granny square! In this two hour class, you’ll learn to create a granny square that can be used as a drinks coaster or as the start of a blanket, accessory or anything else you can dream up! We’ll cover basic crochet stitches, how to finish a square and how to connect squares to create larger projects plus how to follow a crochet pattern or chart. Machine Pieced Curves: River Quilt with Jenny Haynes

Conquer curved piecing and learn to machine-sew beautiful curves in this exciting class! Our teacher, Jenny Haynes of Papper, Sax, Sten, will teach you how to cut, sew and press curves and create a curvy River Quilt by using her no-pin technique and custom Drunkards Path templates. Rag Rugging for Beginners with Elspeth Jackson
Sunday, 10 September, 10am – 4pm (£75)
Learn to turn old rags into upcycled homeware with the beautiful craft of rag rugging! Our beginners’ workshop is designed to give you all the skills you need to be able to start any rag rug project for yourself at home. With plenty of help from our expert instructor throughout the day, you will learn how to use rag rug equipment, how to work with hessian, how to choose and prepare materials, how to design for rag rug, how to do the two different types of rag rugging (loopy and shaggy) and how to finish your work. During the session you will get the opportunity to begin a rug, cushion or smaller project (depending on how ambitious you’re feeling!). Slalom Quilt with Jenny Haynes
Sunday, 17 September, 10am – 4pm (£95)
Learn how to cut, shape and machine-sew curves with bias tape! In this class Jenny Haynes of Papper, Sax, Sten will talk you through three different ways of using bias tape, discussing which technique works best for what project and how to get a neat finish. Plus, you’ll get to put your techniques to work by making a start on The Slalom Quilt. This is a quick and fun pattern that offers an easy way to create curves without piecing. Wednesday 6 September, 6:30pm – 9:30pm or Wednesday, 13 September, 10am – 1pm (£45)
This class will introduce aspiring stitchers – or those who need a refresher – how to use a sewing machine! In this comprehensive three hour class, you’ll get sewing machine-savvy and leave with enough knowledge and confidence to start making your own projects at home! This workshop is focussed solely on the skill of sewing and the entire three hours will be spent practising each element below to ensure that the methods stay in your mind after the class.
