The Sylvie Dress by Christine Haynes now in stock
We are so excited about Christine Haynes‘ newest pattern, the Sylvie Dress! Here is how she describes the Sylvie on her blog: “You’ve spent your cold days making lists of picnics and backyard barbecue gatherings with friends, trips to the beach with family, and warm-weather weddings requiring a new pretty frock. The Sylvie Dress fits the bill for all the above situations and more.”
Now that summer is really, truly here, let’s sew Sylvie! Both views of the Sylvie Dress feature an unlined sleeveless bodice with three small darts under the bust, a wide lined waistband, an invisible back zip and back bodice darts. You have the choice of a full dirndl skirt with optional patch pockets or an unlined pencil skirt with waist darts for fitting.
The dirndl skirt is awesome because you can use border prints (looking at you, Flamingos!) or beautifully finished selvedge edges like the yellow eyelet dress.
The pencil skirt version can look sophisticated or playful, depending on the fabrics you choose!
The wide waistband is super versatile! You can cut it on the bias like in the gingham version or add piping like in the spotty version!
This gingham dress is my total fave!
