Upcycled hen night top
Next month I’m marrying my best friend, Ed. On Friday night, to help me celebrate, some of my wonderful friends took me out for a hen night on the town. Nothing too crazy, mind, but very good fun. And there was dancing.
I was instructed to wear white but I honestly don’t own much white. So I went shopping and bought some white trousers on sale at the GAP (really lucky to find my size on those sales racks!) and then I decided I’d turn a boring t-shirt into a fun top. In an hour. Result!
I took a baggy white t-shirt and started by taking it in on the sides. French seams. I am obsessed with them ever since I learned about them from Gertie. Then I took off the sleeves. Unfortunately the sleeves were only 3/4 length and not long enough, so I cut the front of a second baggy white t-shirt and made “ruffles” that I sewed onto the armholes. I trimmed the underarms at an angle and called it done. It was inspired by a top I tried on earlier in the day at French Connection.¬†It’s not perfect, but it did the trick!
