Visiting tutors at The Village Haberdashery!

We are so excited to be able to offer one-time-only classes from some exceptionally talented tutors who’ll be visiting London in their travels this month! Don’t miss these special events at our West Hampstead shop.

On Tuesday, 13 May, award-winning quilter Rossie Hutchinson will be teaching Carefree Circles and Reverse Appliqué

Carefree Circles and Reverse Applique

Rossie’s reverse appliqué method can be used to make perfect circles or more irregular shapes (as in the picture). She developed this method when making her Painted Pebbles Quilt, which went on to win the ribbon for best appliqué at the American Quilter’s Society Modern Challenge in Des Moines, Iowa. Rossie will also teach Dale Fleming’s 6-minute-circle technique and go over the pros-and-cons of this method vs. her reverse appliqué method. Students will leave class with at least one completed block and a handout to remind them of what they’ve learned. Reserve your place here!

On Wednesday, 21 May, Jennifer Wiese, owner of Brooklyn’s Workroom Social, will be teaching her Basic Pockets Workshop.

Basic Pocket Workshop

Working with a sewing pattern that lacks pockets? Don’t let that stop you from customising your handmade garment with pockets of your own! In this class you’ll get an overview of in-seam and patch pockets and their various applications, learn pattern drafting methods for creating your pockets, installation methods for both in-seam and patch pockets and sewing methods to increase speed and accuracy. Jennifer’s instruction is taught with an emphasis on key industry skills and techniques to get professional-looking results at home. Reserve your place here!
