Fitting Masterclass: Trousers with Charlotte Newland
This intensive one-day class is designed for students who know how to sew, but want to learn how to make trousers that fit beautifully. Working with the trousers pattern of your choice (for woven fabrics only), our experienced instructor will teach you tips and techniques for taking accurate measurements, making a muslin, evaluating fit, basic pattern adjustments (such as blending between sizes, identifying and fixing drag lines, making full tummy and/or flat seat adjustments) and altering your pattern. You'll leave class with a finished muslin and a corrected pattern so you can make the trousers of your dreams at home!
We keep this class to just six students to ensure you will receive plenty of one on one time with Charlotte and fitting advice tailored specifically to your body.
Students are welcome to bring two patterns to class - depending on your personal pace you may be able to start the fitting process on a second pattern.
What our students say:

"I left with a real sense of achievement. It was so helpful have someone knowledgeable identify and adjust my fitting problems." - Barbara
"Charlotte is an excellent teacher: she is so very knowledgeable about all things to do with sewing. She is charming, interesting, passionate, with a fabulous sense of humour (very important!) and I went back to my hotel feeling like I had taken away much more than what was outlined in the day's program thanks to her dedication and knowledge, making the day a totally wonderful and especially memorable experience for me. Definitely the highlight of my stay in London." - Cathy
"Charlotte is fab - her fitting expertise is invaluable. I always learn a tonne of stuff from her." - Hayley

Skills needed: This class is suitable for advanced beginners. You should already know how to sew and work with a commercial dressmaking pattern.
Materials: You'll need to bring or buy your own trouser pattern, which must be designed for woven fabrics (not knits). If you are using a pattern that requires fabric with stretch, you will also need to bring your own muslin fabric (ideally a cheaper version of what you'll be using in your final garment). Non-stretch muslin and all other materials and tools will be provided. You'll receive a 10% discount on your pattern if you purchase it at The Village Haberdashery.
