Hexibore Quilt Workshop with Jenny Haynes
A MASK OR FACE COVERING IS REQUIRED IN THE SHOP INCLUDING DURING OUR CLASSES.
In this patchwork techniques class with award-winning quilter Jenny Haynes you’ll learn to sew no-pin curves in three sizes using Jenny's Drunkard’s Path templates. The different sized curves are then assembled and cut into wedges and the six wedges creates a kaleidoscope-style flower. Jenny will show you how to sew and trim the different blocks that make up the Hexibore Quilt pattern, how to get an accurate 60° angle on your wedges and how to get the seams to match. The tips and tricks learnt with Jenny will give you the confidence to finish the quilt you’ve started in class at home.
You’ll get to play with Jenny's PSS Acrylic templates in class. If you'd like to purchase your own set you can do so at a 10% student discount.
About your teacher: A Swedish exile having spent the previous 18 years in Hackney, Jenny Haynes (n̩e Nilsson) studied Pattern Cutting and Tailoring in her native Stockholm. Soon after, she followed her passion for fabrics and moved to London to study Fashion and Textiles at the London College of Fashion. She went on to develop her own label 'Papper, Sax, Sten' (that's 'Paper, Scissors, Stone' if you're wondering!), working with textiles that reflect these different influences. Her bespoke quilts and furnishings are recognised for their clean and simple, mid-century modern design. Often mixing vintage fabrics with modern prints, rich colours with pastels, wool and silk with linen and cotton, while remaining faithful to her Scandinavian roots. This was recognised in Summer '15 when Jenny was invited by the Swedish Chamber of Commerce, along with 18 other Swedish designers, to be a part of Heal's Swedish Summer Exhibition. Heal's having a long history of promoting Swedish design with exhibitions in 1923, '51 and '71. Find out more about Jenny and her stunning designs at Pappersaxsten.com.
