Learn to Knit with Martha Supajirawatananon



Do you want to learn to knit or need a refresher on the basics? This class is for you! In this fun three-hour class, we will cover everything you need to know to get started while you knit your very own bright and colourful cotton facial pads and washcloth!
This class will teach you all the essentials of knitting and give you plenty of practice. We will go step by step through:
  • casting on
  • holding the yarn and keeping good tension
  • knit and purl stitches to create different fabrics (garter stitch, stocking(nette) stitch and 1x1 rib)
  • recognising different stitches and construction
  • knitting a border
  • joining a new colour/yarn
  • following a pattern
  • binding off
  • weaving in ends
All materials are included and your knitting needles, stitch markers and darning needle will be yours to keep!

About your teacher: Martha has over 15 years of knitting experience, and 10 years teaching experience from another field with a teaching certificate to boot. A former design consultant at Rowan and now working at Slipstitch London, she has knitted samples for various knitting books and shop displays. She is always helping customers with their queries. She has run knitting groups all over the world and taught various generations of new knitters. She has also designed and sold her own knits. She is so excited to share this knowledge and experience, and the joy of knitting, with you!
Skills needed: Suitable for absolute beginners.
