Tilly and the Buttons - Iris Knickers

£13.00

Meet the newest addition to the Tilly and the Buttons range - the Iris knickers! Makers can learn to sew their own undies with this multi-style knickers pattern, created in collaboration with everyone's favourite lingerie designer, Evie La Lùve.

Incredibly versatile, Iris is a mix and match knicker sewing pattern that includes a choice of low, mid and high legs and waistlines so makers can create their favourite fit. The pattern also offers a choice of finishes for the leg and waist openings too; use either fold over elastic or narrow stretch lace, making a total of 36 different possible design combinations!

A pleasure to sew, and a perfect scrap busting project, Iris can be whipped up on a regular sewing machine. Once you’ve made your first pair, you’ll be hooked!

The printed Iris sewing pattern has 10 sizes included from a UK 6-24. (a second size range, UK 16-34 with different proportions, is available as a PDF sewing pattern from the Tilly and the Buttons' online shop).

FABRIC AND NOTIONS

Iris is designed to be sewn up in a light- to medium-weight stretch knit fabric with 40-60% 4-way stretch and good recovery. This means there's a wealth of fabrics to choose from when it comes to picking your main fabric, including jersey, scuba, stretch mesh, stretch velvet.

Fabrics with natural content like cotton jersey or bamboo jersey work best for the crotch lining.

The leg and waist openings can be finished with fold over elastic, narrow stretch lace or a combination of the two! Makers will need

15-20mm (5/8-3/4in) wide fold over elastic and/or 20-40mm (3/4-1 1/2in) wide narrow stretch lace.

NB: Most stretch laces are suitable for all leg opening options and the low waist opening, but for the high and mid waist openings, the lace must have a similar stretch percentage to the main fabric (40-60%)

Yay for me-made undies!
