Tilly and the Buttons - Lyra Shirtdress
The ultra-cool Lyra shirt dress has an oversized, blousy bodice with bust darts, button front opening, two-piece collar and stand, and, of course, side seam pockets.
The gathered skirt can be hemmed just above the knee, or the addition of a midi panel creates a trendy tiered look. It comes with the option of short sleeves for easy-breezy summer style or full length billowy sleeves with elasticated cuffs.
Lyra can be worn in a loose and floaty style, alternatively, an optional narrow tie can be added to cinch in at the waist.
The printed Lyra sewing pattern comes in sizes UK 6-24 / US 2-20 / EUR 34-52.
FABRIC AND NOTIONS
Lyra works with a wide variety of light- to medium-weight woven fabrics, such as cotton lawn, voile, seersucker, chambray, double gauze, viscose (rayon), Tencel (lyocell), lighter weight needlecord.
The choice of fabric really informs the silhouette, with more drapey substrates being ideal for swishing, and those with a little more body to them being perfect for showing off the shape.
We picked three fabric types to show off how versatile this pattern is - the green midi is a viscose, the short-sleeved paint stroke summery style was made in a cotton lawn and the blue knee-length dress was made from a needlecord.
Makers will complete the look with 5 x 12-15mm (1/2-5/8in) buttons and the long sleeve version requires their wrist measurement x 2 in 10mm (3/8in) wide elastic.
